Financing assistance to purchase fuel efficient vehicles

The California Air Resources Board and Community Housing Development Corporation (CHDC), announced a pilot program offering residents in Richmond the opportunity to purchase fuel efficient, and ultra-clean vehicles. The program is open to residents with the following zipcodes: 94801, 94804, and 94806. Eligible vehicles include light-duty passenger vehicles that are either hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) at a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV). For used vehicles (HEV, PHEV, or zero-emission vehicles include BEV and FCEV), vehicles must be eight years old or newer with a combined fuel economy rating of at least 20 miles per gallon of fuel.

The Ways to Work program combines low-interest loans with financial education, budget consulting, and personalized management. The program offers auto purchase loans, auto repair loans, and auto refinancing. For eligibility and more information about the Ways to Work program, visit


Rideshare Database

The City of Richmond’s RideMatch service – an interactive, on-demand system that helps you find carpools, vanpools, or bicycle partners. Create a profile to find commuters who have similar travel routes and patterns with whom you can share a ride. Then you can easily send potential rideshare partners an e-mail or give them a call.

Your information remains confidential. Only your name, phone number, home/work city and e-mail will be shared with potential partners. The ridematching service is powered by 511 Contra Costa and completely FREE.

Make a change from driving alone to carpooling, taking transit, bicycling, or walking for your work commute and 511 Contra Costa will reward you with the Drive Less Commuter Incentive Program. This incentive program is available for your home-to-work commute and/or work-to-home commute. Eligible participants will receive a $50 check sent to the mailing address.
