and Proposed Freeway Access Changes at McBryde Avenue and El Portal Drive
This project involves modifications to the interchanges at McBryde Avenue in Richmond and El Portal Drive in San Pablo. The project aims to improve traffic operations, reduce traffic congestion, provide efficient and safe bicycle/pedestrian access at the interchanges, and accommodate future traffic volumes on San Pablo Dam Road, by:
Replacing and widening the San Pablo Dam Road overcrossing.
Relocating McBryde Avenue access along westbound I-80. (WB direction is towards San Francisco).
Relocating El Portal Drive access to westbound I-80.
Realigning Amador Street to intersect with San Pablo Dam Road further east.
Replacing the I-80 pedestrian overcrossing serving Riverside Elementary School and extending it across Amador Street.
Assessment of the project environmental impacts was completed in February 2010 and project design is now underway.
