These events are designed with the entire family in mind and offered throughout the year. Spring Egg Hunt

February

Black History Month Dinner & Celebration

A cultural celebration of the African American community in Richmond. Enjoy a meal and entertainment from local artists; and an honoring of community members who have contributed positively to the City. The City of Richmond Community Services Department will host its annual Black History Celebration on Saturday, February 23, 2019, from 1:00 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. We will have performances that include: Praise Dancing, Music & Song, Poetry, and Spoken Word. This year, we will also feature a Q&A panel discussion on the achievement gap deficit of black students in the WCCUSD. Refreshments will be provided by Main Avent Catering.
This event is hosted by the Community Services Department and requires a purchased entry.

16th Chinese New Year Celebration

This day is the first new moon day of the first Chinese lunar month in the Chinese Lunar Calendar system. We celebrate this event with our Chinese and greater community in Richmond on February 9, 2019. Enjoy a meal and entertainment from local performers and musicians for a night of fun and festivities.

April

Spring Egg Hunt and Recreation Information Day

Join us on April 13, 2019, at the Civic Center Plaza for our annual egg hunt and recreation information day to learn more about the different programs the Community Services department offers. The Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 A.M. This event is rain or shine.  If it rains, the event will be moved inside the Richmond Memorial Auditorium (403 Civic Center Plaza).

May

Cinco de Mayo Festival and Parade

Come Join the Bay Area’s largest annual Cinco de Mayo Family Fiesta! This is a two-day event from May 4 - 5, 2019, with a parade hosted by the City of Richmond and the City of San Pablo. Experience traditional Hispanic culture, food, dance, and music. Learn more about local community resources, services, and businesses through a variety of information booths. 
This event is hosted by the 23rd Street Merchants Association, City of Richmond, other sponsors, and is free and open to the public. 


Senior Health & Information Day

Join us on May 8, 2019, at The Richmond Memorial Auditorium.
This event is hosted by the Community Services Department and is free and open to the public. 


Bike to Work Day

On Thursday, May 9, 2019, from 7:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M., the City of Richmond in collaboration with Bike East Bay, 511 Contra Costa, Richmond Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), Rich City Rides, Columbia Sportswear Company, and SunPower, will be hosting five Energizer Stations across the Richmond community. Stop by on your way to work for refreshments and a Bike to Work Day bag filled with promotional materials from local businesses!

Annual Senior Night Out

The City of Richmond, Community Services Department, and the Commission on Aging invite you to attend a night of fun and dancing on May 11, 2019, at The Richmond Memorial Auditorium.
This event is hosted by the Community Services Department, only for seniors, and requires a purchased entry.

3rd Taste of Richmond

Don't miss out on the 3rd annual Taste of Richmond on Saturday, May 18! Enjoy delicious food and beverages from Richmond restaurants, caterers, wine and craft beer producers, all while soaking in spectacular sweeping views of the Bay, the City of San Francisco skyline, and a Richmond's treasured shoreline! It was created to increase the patronage of Richmond food and beverage establishments and inform Richmond residents and visitors of the amazing restaurants and beverage venues in Richmond.
This event is hosted by the Richmond Economic Development Commission with support from the Riggers Loft Wine Company and other sponsors and requires a purchased entry.


June

Juneteenth Festival & Parade

The entire community is welcomed to join this year’s West County Juneteenth Parade and Festival! The event will take place on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. at Nicholl Park.
This event is hosted by the City of Richmond, Neighborhood Block Association, Chevron, other sponsors, and is free and open to the public.

July

3rd of July Fireworks & Celebration


Fireworks, food, and fun are what this event is all about.  Celebrate with your fellow community members at Marina Bay Park from 5:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. to enjoy music and the youth play area (for a fee) until the night sky explodes with color in our 20-minute fireworks display at approximately 9:15 P.M. 
This event is hosted by the Community Services Department and is free and open to the public. 


August

National Night Out

Richmond's Night Out takes place on Tuesday, August 6, 2019, from 5:00 P.M. - 8:30 P.M. throughout various neighborhoods in Richmond. Join us for the kickoff event in the Richmond Target parking lot (4500 Macdonald Ave.) and follow the RPD caravan throughout the night! The list of locations will be listed in the calendar details.
This event is hosted by the Richmond Police Department and is free and open to the public. 

Annual Zydeco Dance

Join us on August 24, 2019, at the Richmond Recreation Complex located at 3230 Macdonald Avenue.
This event is hosted by the Community Services Department and requires a purchased entry.

Candy Cane Classic Basketball Tournament

Basketball tournaments held at various gymnasiums on December 13, 14 and 15, 2019.  Divisions include 10U, 12U, & 14U for both boys and girls.  For more information please call 510-620-6793.

66th Snowball Dance

This formal event is for all high school students, grades 9th - 12th from the WCCUSD. It's an evening you won't want to miss! The event will be held at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium on December 14, 2019.
This event is hosted by the Community Services Department, only for high school students in the local school district, and requires a purchased entry. 

22nd Senior Winter Ball

Join us for an evening of dinner and dancing.  This event will be held at the Richmond Memorial Auditorium on December 21, 2019.
