A cultural celebration of the African American community in Richmond. Enjoy a meal and entertainment from local artists; and an honoring of community members who have contributed positively to the City. The City of Richmond Community Services Department will host its annual Black History Celebration on
Saturday, February 29, 2020, from 1:00 P.M. – 3:30 P.M. We will have performances that include: Praise Dancing, Music & Song, Youth Choir, Spoken Word, and the Black Inventors Traveling Museum. Tickets are $10 and include refreshments.

Civic Center Plaza for our annual egg hunt and recreation information day to learn more about the different programs the Community Services department offers. The Egg Hunt will begin at 10:00 A.M.

CANCELLED: Park Rx Day
CSD, in collaboration with Contra Costa Health Services and National Park Service, will hold its annual Park Prescription (Rx) Day on Saturday, April 27 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at John F. Kennedy Park. During the event, healthcare providers, park agencies, community groups, and other program leaders will organize events and activities at JFK Park, encouraging participants to improve their health and well-being by embracing the health benefits of nature. Join us for lots of fun and free activities such as free health screenings, yoga, tai chi, Walk with the Doc, bikes rides/repairs and giveaways, dance, instruction volleyball/soccer, and lunch. Join us for a day of fun at your local park!

Celebrate with your fellow community members at Marina Bay Park from 5:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. to enjoy music and the youth play area (for a fee) until the night sky explodes with color in our 20-minute fireworks display at approximately 9:15 P.M.
