Contact Republic Services at 510-262-7100 to ask about commercial and residential rates, billing or account information,  Pay Your Bill Online, report a missed pickup or lost or damaged carts/bins, or request on-call cleanups or bulky item collection services. Follow Republic Services' Quarterly Newsletter for up-to-date information, news and recycling activities. Ratepayers may visit Waste and Recycling Rates and Contracts to access 2018 rates and existing franchise agreements with Republic Services.

Recycling Guide

Increase waste diversion by recycling paper, cardboard, metals, narrow-neck plastics, and more. The items accepted in the Richmond recycling program have now been expanded to include plastic bags (bundled) and all rigid plastic containers including tubs and to-go containers. 


What Goes Into the Blue Cart?

  • Cardboard (flattened)

  • Paper - newspaper, junk mail, envelopes, magazines, catalogs, cereal & shoe boxes, colored & white paper, telephone books, paper bags

  • Glass - bottles and jars

  • Plastic - milk, juice, soda & water bottles, narrow-neck bottles, 

    to-go containers, tubs, bags (bundled)

  • Metal - aluminum, steel, tin cans, empty aerosol cans, aluminum foil & pans
